ISO/IEC 27001 is an information-security management-system standard. It is not simply a penetration-testing checklist.
A technically strong ISO 27001 security programme needs to connect governance, risk, controls, people, processes and technology. NuageSEC provides technical security assessment and compliance-readiness support that can contribute evidence to an organisation's wider ISO/IEC 27001 programme.
ISO/IEC 27001 defines requirements for establishing, implementing, maintaining and continually improving an information security management system. The standard applies across organisations of different sizes and sectors. An ISO 27001 programme therefore encompasses more than technical vulnerabilities — it addresses how an organisation manages information-security risk as an integrated management system.
ISO identifies ISO/IEC 27001:2022 as the current international standard defining requirements for an information security management system. ISO also explains that organisations may choose whether to pursue certification, and that certification is a separate process.
Technical security assessment can support an ISMS by providing evidence about the effectiveness of relevant technical controls. Depending on scope, testing can assess:
Web applications
APIs
Cloud environments
Network infrastructure
Access controls
Authentication
Configuration
Vulnerability management
Remediation effectiveness
NuageSEC's current service portfolio covers web, API, network, cloud and compliance/audit support.
For SaaS companies, technical assessment may focus on the following, producing technical evidence security teams can incorporate into the organisation's broader ISMS evidence and remediation process. It should not be marketed as a complete ISO 27001 audit.
Customer-facing applications
Tenant isolation
API authorisation
Cloud infrastructure
Identity management
Administrative interfaces
Third-party integrations
Sensitive information
For organisations processing UK personal data, security management and data protection often intersect. The ICO states that UK GDPR security obligations require appropriate technical and organisational measures and that organisations should regularly test the effectiveness of those measures according to risk.
The Data (Use and Access) Act 2025 also changed aspects of UK data-protection law, with the ICO confirming that its data-protection provisions were all in force from 19 June 2026.
Security testing can provide useful technical evidence, but the applicable legal obligations must be assessed in the context of the organisation's actual processing activities.
These are different activities. ISO states that organisations can implement ISO/IEC 27001 without pursuing certification, while certification can provide independent confirmation to stakeholders.
Examines defined technical controls, systems and vulnerabilities.
Establishes the organisation's broader information-security management system.
A separate conformity-assessment process through an appropriate certification body.
A NuageSEC technical security assessment does not automatically do any of the following:
Technical testing is one input into a much broader management system.
Certification audits are conducted by an accredited certification body against the full ISMS.
Conformity is determined through the organisation's own ISMS and the certification body's audit.
NuageSEC currently publishes these capabilities across its application, API, cloud and wider cybersecurity services.
Authentication, authorisation, input validation, business logic and APIs.
BOLA/IDOR, authentication, authorisation, business logic and data exposure.
Identities, permissions, exposed services, workloads and cloud attack paths.
Relevant external and internal infrastructure.
Retesting after security fixes where included.

The exact evidence set should be mapped to the organisation's objectives and assessment scope.
A business-focused view for leadership.
Documented vulnerabilities and technical context.
Supporting technical evidence for each finding.
Severity and business-context prioritisation.
Findings mapped to relevant ISMS control areas.
Practical recommendations for engineering and security teams.
Validation of remediation where included.
NuageSEC's published international case studies demonstrate practical security-testing experience across application and API environments. These cases are presented honestly as international customer evidence, not as UK ISO 27001 certification evidence.
Involved authentication, application workflows, sensitive business data and risks such as unauthorised access, injection, logic manipulation and authentication/authorisation bypass.
Identified SQL injection, cross-site scripting, weak authentication and broken access control.
A risk-based testing programme is generally more useful than testing once and assuming the environment remains unchanged. Useful triggers include:
It is a technical security assessment that examines defined systems and controls relevant to an organisation's ISO/IEC 27001 objectives.
No. ISO/IEC 27001 is an information-security management-system standard; penetration testing is one technical security activity.
No.
No. NuageSEC does not claim to issue ISO 27001 certificates. ISO certification is a separate conformity-assessment process carried out by an appropriate certification body.
Yes. Technical API testing can provide security evidence and remediation information relevant to an organisation's wider ISMS.
Yes. NuageSEC currently supports AWS, Azure and GCP cloud environments.
No. The two frameworks/laws have different scopes and requirements.
